Research carried out to relate polished-stone value (PSV) of aggregate when used in various types of road surfacing to their skidding-resistance under different traffic conditions; study was made of factors that affect results of PSV tests; factors are separated into those connected with test procedure itself and those arising from production of aggregate and from sampling procedures; ways in which reproducibility of PSV test can be improved by amending test procedure are discussed.
