Research efforts undertaken by Walker Mfg Co in developing " Chambered Pipe" silencing concept; history of muffler design and examples of various types developed; theoretical basis for " Chambered Pipe" silencing system approach and test data showing effect of optimum placement of silencing units in actual hot gas flowing systems are presented; new manufacturing techniques used in fabricating systems are described and examples of typical systems shown and compared to conventional mufflered systems.
