FAA and operating economics dictates that commercial SST operate using commercial kerosene fuel or fuel of equivalent cost; survey was conducted to determine potential use of commercial kerosene (ASTM type A and ASTM type A-1) in SST; analysis of physical and chemical properties of commercial kerosene with special emphasis on thermal stability characteristics; results indicated that some of commercial aviation kerosene fuel being supplied to present commercial subsonic jets may be satisfactory for use in supersonic transport.
