Boundary layer in neighborhood of centerline of symmetry with adverse pressure gradients and heat transfer is studied with view toward assessing importance of three-dimensional effects on such boundary layers in hypersonic inlets of airbreathing engines; two approaches are employed; in one, analysis is performed so that parameters describing external flow and surface geometry are restricted to those yielding similar boundary layers; numerical results are presented; second approach is integral method which can be applied for similar and nonsimilar flows.
