Through every design stage BEA (British European Airways Corp) worked closely with De Havilland and Hawker Siddeley Aviation, translating specification requirements into detail design, especially in areas of concern to airline, such as cockpit and cabin layouts; pilots and cabin staff were consulted to ensure that their requirements were met before design was finalized; maintenance planning with respect to provisioning of spares and maintenance ground equipment; development of diagnostic equipment SADIE (Smiths Aural Diagnostic Inspection Equipment) to check out flight control system before flight; methods engineering, quality control, and engineering training.
