Military and civil need for refueling; today 'probe and drogue' method of refueling is standard practice by all major military powers with exception of U S Air Force Strategic Air Command who use Boeing 'boom' method; details of MK. 20 refueling pod, involving buddy concept; 2 similar aircraft leave on mission, one carrying military payload and other carrying fuel; MK. 16 and MK. 17 refueling packages are designed for fitment in bomber aircraft, making use of standard bombing equipment for attachment of package into aircraft; helicopter refueling.
