Development, characteristics and design of all-welded tanker built at Welding Shipyards, Inc, Norfolk, Va, which has only one berth about 600 ft long; vessel is 541 ft × 80 ft × 40 ft, with draft 31 ft 4 1/2 in.; fitted with geared turbines with double-reduction gear developing 13,200 shp on single shaft, high-pressure water-tube boilers of 525 lb pressure and total temperature of 750 F.
