PV-3 designed for Coast Guard and Navy air-sea rescue and transport service requirements; flight tests have shown unusual stability and control characteristics; power plant of single Continental-Wright R-975 engine, with rating of 450 hp at take-off; each rotor is at each end of fuselage, which is 48 ft long and 13 ft high; main feature is tandem disposition of rotors, rotating in opposite directions so as to eliminate torque effects.
