Car equipped for making load tests on Diesel-electric locomotive traction motors used by Union Pacific Railroad; tests disclose faults not usually discovered until motor is loaded and hot; motors are run at full load for 4 hr at 45 mph after which speed is increased to 90 mph at which speed motor is run at light load for 1/2 hr; under load test, temperature of commutator is allowed to rise to 240 F, and exhaust air from fields to reach 180 to 190 F.
