Arrangement permits electric individual drive to be used even when two machine elements have to be kept running at same speed or at fixed speed ratio without any mechanical coupling whatsoever; in contradistinction to synchronous motor drives, arrangement can be adopted where fixed speed has to be maintained during starting and when braking to standstill; tie, in its simplest form, consists of two asynchronous motors, rotors of which are electrically connected.
