Present trend in large military and commercial aircraft is definitely in favor of oleo-pneumatic or pneudraulic shock absorbers because of their smooth action, adjustability, durability, and relatively light weight; rubber as well as steel springs have intrinsic characteristics which are difficult to control; performance curves presented.
