Theoretical analysis is presented of flutter of flat simply supported stiffened panels in supersonic flow; boundaries show that flutter speed for stiffened panels is strongly dependent on type of normal mode shape chosen; it was found that lowest stability boundary was produced for first torsional free vibration mode, whereas higher vibration modes showed no flutter; results also indicate that flutter speeds for stiffened panels are higher than those for nonstiffened panels under same conditions.
