It is 120 yr since company now known as Gotaverken A/B was founded; yard now has 5 berths, upon largest of which ships up to 725 ft in length and 42,000 tons dw can be built; there are 3 floating docks of 8000, 18,000 and 28,000 tons lifting capacity; first single acting, low speed, 2-stroke engine was introduced in 1938; latest, large bore engine, machine shop, shipbuilding, and new yard at Arendal are described.
