Principle ground stations required for astronautical applications are radio astronomy, telemetry and control, communications, and military; considered are medium altitude communication satellite with capacity of several hundred telephone channels, radar tracking of passive lunar probe, and tracking active Venus probe; large ground stations will cost upward of 1 million £; long term efficiencies could be effected by multipurpose ground stations on national or international basis, founded on world-wide communication satellite system.
