Six axle general purpose design without train heating but with special provisions for cold climate; 112 ton C-C locomotive by MaK of Kiel, West Germany, with axle load of 19 tons was constructed for safe and satisfactory operation from 40 C to -40 C; gage of locomotive is 1524 mm; powered by 2 May-bach MD. 655 pressure, charged and charge air cooled engines set to top output of 1500 bhp apiece at 1500 rpm.
