British Waterways have concentrated on major improvements to those waterways which are canalized rivers connected to larger ports; these comprise some 300 mi of waterways and carry approximately 80% of total annual tonnage of 10,000,000; information is given on traffic carried, revenue, water supplies, terminal facilities, bank protection, dredging, locks, etc. From paper before Inland Waterways Conference, Paris.
