Japanese industry is still under United States control, but recent changes have had far-reaching effect on monopoly; financial troubles have reduced assembly operations of leading importer from 130 cars per day to 60; formation of Japan Motor Co. with new plant near Yokohama is in progress and will within two or three years make all-Japanese car; there are also possibilities in truck field because Japanese railroad is practically undeveloped, giving free play to freight transportation in automotive field.
