Two types of multicurrent locomotives considered are, BB 30001 and 30002, three-current locomotives designed to run at full power under 1.5 and 3 kv d-c catenaries and under 25 kv 50-cycle single-phase current catenaries, and CC 40101- 40104 four-current locomotives designed to run in addition to systems described on lines electrified with 15 kv 16 2/3-cycle single-phase current; locomotives are fitted with dual-reduction gear systems.
