Program to establish feasibility of ocean-going hydrofoil, and evaluate prototype as antisubmarine warfare weapon; de Havilland Canada is responsible for overall program and design and production of foils; Marine Industries Ltd is building hull and undertaking fitting out; Canadian Westinghouse has undertaken engineering study for specifications of armaments; prototype, designated FHE 400, will have displacement of 200 tons, and its oa length is 150 ft 9 in.; main foil carries 90% of weight and combines fixed surface piercing and submerged foils.
