Alterations to four Ballin-class vessels and to sisterships " Niederwald" and "Steigerwald"; altering bow form of former and lengthening them by 39 ft 4 1/2 in. enables speed of 19. 25 knots to be maintained by expenditure of 20,000 instead of 28,000 hp; pronounced bow wave and trough will be replaced by small, smooth wave; model tests for Niederwald and Steigerwald were equally satisfactory; additional power will be obtained by installation of Bauer-Wach exhaust turbine.
