Present plans call for spheres at least 20 in. in diam and weighing 21.5 lb, to be launched by means of 3-stage rockets from Cape Canaveral, in Florida; satellites will be used to perform various experiments during orbital flight; "Vanguard" vehicles will consist of 3-stage rocket.
