Alouette I, launched from California on Sept 29 1962, was constructed in Canada and launched by United States vehicle as part of joint space program between NASA and Canada's Defence Research Board; Alouette I experiments are reviewed, and two other ionospheric satellites, Alouette B and ISIS-A, are described pointing out differences in both experiments and instrumentation between each of satellites and reasons for them.
