Design of self-contained magnetic attitude control system for spinning satellite is described, and particular control techniques for sensing and actuation are developed; control problem associated with alignment of spin axis normal to orbit plane in presence of external perturbations is examined, and simple control system mechanization consisting of coil and magnetometer is described; control system design procedure with pertinent design parameters for application to specific satellite system is shown.
