Six principal reasons are outlined why launcher phase is very important for small rockets; aerodynamic factors which must be considered in design of launch equipment are examined and two methods of employing auxiliary gas pressure to raise launch velocity in order to obtain low dispersion are described; examples of launchers, namely, Cricketsonde launcher, developed by U S Air Force, Cambridge Research Laboratories, and French Veronique launcher.
