Two lunar shelter concepts, RigidShelter and Combined Rigid/ Expandable Shelter, are presented; when functioning alone or with Mobile Lunar Laboratory (MOLAR), shelters provide capability for maintaining two or three astronauts on Moon for 30 to 44 Earth days with stay-time growth of 90 days; feature of system is that Lunar Roving Vehicle or Lunar Observatory and shelter can be transported on LEM truck in single flight to Moon by Saturn V transportation system; shelter system concept optimizes systems approach to lunar exploration in terms of timeliness, operational flexibility, growth potential and return on Apollo investment.
