Three standard systems of rockets used to obtain information needed for International Geophysical Year are Rockoon, Nike-Cajun, and Aerobee and Aerobee Hi; difficulties of measuring upper air from rocket traveling at velocities of 4 to 5 times velocity of sound, and their partial solution; measurements of density and location of ionized layers of ionosphere.
