Summary of tests made in fire fighting apparatus to determine effect of ambient noise on apparent loudness when operating radio equipment; noise produced by wind, engine, tires and road rumble is analyzed at various speeds; level of audio power required to provide acceptable performance was determined to be 3 w; contribution of loudspeaker type and distortion figure to intelligibility.
