Since 1930, Chicago and Alton has constructed four automatic interlocking plants at railroad grade crossings formerly protected by mechanical interlocking; plant at White Hall, Ill, satisfies every operating requirement and returns annually 71% of initial investment; three other installations completed in past 2 1/2 years.
