Slot injection problems include fuel injection, surface cooling and/ or skin-friction reduction, and alleviation of boundary-layer separation by energizing fluid near wall; study is divided into three areas; detailed profiles in near flowfield were determined with interferometer for air injection into Mach 2.1 airstream past flat plate; analytical treatment of turbulent mixing zone including effects of splitter plate boundary layer is presented and shown to provide predictions in excellent agreement with experiments; stability of mixing region is considered and experiments with spark shadowgraphs are reported.
