Information on study of medium speed diesel intended for marine propulsion, at Institute of Internal Combustion Engines of Technical University of Norway, based on report by A.Sarsten, G.Sylte and H.Valland; it shows that burning of intermediate fuel oils in such engine may cause cylinder wear to increase by 130% (relative to gas oil) if appropriate measures are not taken, and latter arc suggested; tests were made on 2-cyl Wichmann 2ACAT engine; bore is 280 mm, stroke 420 mm, and output/cylinder 125 bhp.
