Describes an adaptation of electrical traction to canal haulage, invented by Messrs. Thwait and Cawley. It can be applied without interfering with the use of horses. The barges are hauled by means of rope, and an aerial railway is provided for the motors. (Read before the British Assn., at Bristol.) (2500 w.)
