Advantages of continuous haulage systems in horizontal movement of coal on main haulage levels; to meet design requirements of new coal mines in Ostrava-Karvina mining area in Czechoslovakia, it was decided to choose, for main haulage level, rail locomotive haulage with mine cars of capacity of 3 to 5 cu m and with Diesel mine locomotives of 70 to 100 hp with 600 to 750 mm gage, and to equip working shaft with two double acting skip hoists of payload of 17 tons/skip car and of maximum capacity of two hoists of 1250 tph for main haulage level; loading of mine cars at stationary loading posts as well as their emptying at working shaft must be done continuously; various car designs are described and illustrated.
