Model study (scale 1 to 25) of filling and emptying system proposed for lock was confined to portion of hydraulic system between filling and emptying valves; lock chamber manifold includes three horizontal rows of seventy-two 8-in.-diam ports resulting in overall port-to-culvert area ratio of 0.75 based on culvert area at valves; manifold extends over 48% of chamber length and is centered about 3.9% of chamber length upstream from midpoint of chamber; ports discharge into 3-ft-wide by 6.5-ft-deep trench along toe of lock wall.
