Graphic analysis method developed predicts effect of engine cycle variables on cruise performance; parametric turbofan cycle data for range of cycle pressure ratios, turbine inlet temperatures, and bypass ratios are combined with installed weight and drag data for engine installations establishing relationship between engine cycle variables, installed fuel consumption, and installed engine thrust-to-weight ratio; aircraft cruise range is expressed as function of installed specific fuel consumption and installed engine thrust-to-weight ratio by modified version of Breguet Range Equation; this permits graphic solution of effects of engine cycle variables on aircraft performance.
