Study was made to determine pilot preference for display of information for landing in reduced visibility; types of information display considered were situation displays which present integrated complex of information and displays of individual items of information, e.g., sink rate; technique of paired comparisons was applied; subjects were 30 American Airlines line pilots, each of whom were interviewed separately; results indicate that pilots prefer display for landing in reduced visibility which is presented on windscreen, contains information about position of aircraft with respect to glide slope, picture of landing situation, and information about airspeed.
