Application of, and tests on silicon power rectifier, installed on existing multiple-unit passenger car in place of original ignitron rectifier, to evaluate silicon rectifiers in traction propulsion power service and prove their feasibility in actual field operation; both static tests and actual service tests showed that equipment was satisfactory for extended field testing.
