Photoelastic method of stress analysis is briefly explained and photograph of apparatus used is shown; stress determinations on several types of aircraft structures are discussed and models used for studies are shown by illustrations; problems discussed include rigid airship Shenandoah, box girders for cantilever monoplane wings, airplane wing spars and fuselage of cabin passenger plane of monocoque construction.
