Possible causes of warp breakage are discussed; experiments outlined indicated that geometry of loom plays most important part in determining magnitude of maximum tension rise arising from passage of knot through reed; geometrical arrangement is such that point of passage of knots in threads in bottom shed line can never be above point of beat-up; several possible methods of reducing warp breakage potential of knots in region swept by reed are suggested.
