Description of first of series of six fast cargo liners ordered by Moore-McCormack Lines Inc from Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp; these are high-powered steam turbine vessels having very fine lines permitting operating speed in excess of 24 knots; three have so far been delivered; length oa 550 ft 9 in., breadth molded 75 ft, depth molded to main deck 42 ft 6 in., design draft 27 ft, dw 12,763 tons dry cargo capacity 612,368 cu ft and special cargo 39,326 cu ft, refrigerated 39,988 cu ft and vegetable oil tanks 1340 tons; plan.
