Display system to provide capacity for manually monitoring and controlling entry trajectory is described and its principles are applied to Apollo-type entry vehicle; system concept consists of entry threshold and corridor verification for initial atmospheric penetration, flight monitor for trajectory monitoring and control information throughout entry, and attitude indicator, which provides lift vector orientation information; entry threshold indication and corridor verification are provided through acceleration and time relationships, and used to indicate required lift orientation to safely accomplish initial atmospheric penetration and to achieve controllable state.
