First of three sisterships for Harwich-Hook of Holland Service of London and North Eastern Railway; length o.a. 366 ft., gross tonnage 4218 tons, speed 21 1/2 knots; vessel is of shelter-deck type; propelling machinery consists of two sets of Brown-Curtis compound turbines, driving twin screws through single-reduction helical gearing and capable of developing sufficient power to give speed of 21 knots in service.
