Two direct and one Diesel-electric drive tankers under construction at Sun Shipbuilding plant, Chester, Pa.; largest is twin-screw vessel 255 ft. long to be powered with two 500-s.hp. 275-r.p.m. Bessemer Diesel engines direct connected to propellers and calculated to give sea speed of 9 1/2 knots; other two are 197 ft. long and will have cargo capacity of 6000 bbl. on draft of 9 ft.; they will have Diesel-electric, single-screw drive with power supplied by two Bessemer Diesel engines of 300 b.hp. each.
