Shipping Board motorship, converted from steam propulsion to direct Diesel drive, averaged 15.08 knots during 6-hour trial run; freight ship was converted at yards of Maryland Dry Dock Co., Baltimore, at cost of $1,035,889, this including installation, alterations, main engine, deck machinery, engine-room auxiliaries, and all incidentals; 411 ft. 9 in. in length; main engine of double-acting, two-cycle, air-injection type, was built by Worthington Pump and Machinery Corp.
