At Science Museum, South Kensington, special exhibition was opened in connection with centenary of famous Rainhill locomotive trials on Liverpool and Manchester Railway in October, 1829; four engines were entered for this competition; Rocket by George and Robert Stephenson and Henry Booth; Sans Pareil by Timothy Hackworth; Novelty by John Braithwaite and John Ericsson; and Perseverance by Timothy Burstall.
