In 1943 transport department of city of Milan started investigations into use of home produced fuel in endeavor to become independent of imported supplies and to assure continuity of their services in time of war; methane gas delivered to Milan depots amounted to about 353, 165 cu ft daily. Information contained in article was given in German Transport Journal published in Berlin in 1942.
