Breakdown strength of air and surface flashover behavior of number of materials were investigated under conditions corresponding to altitude range from sea level to 65,000 ft; various atmospheric conditions encountered by aircraft in this altitude range were simulated by use of special test chamber; results of investigation are enumerated.
