Major obstacle now seems to be overcome in steady growth in tank-ships to 200,000 dw tons and still larger; Marseille-Fos on Mediterranean coast and Le Havre, Rotterdam, Milford Haven on Atlantic seaboard are some of ports in Europe under development to handle 200,000 ton vessels; further increase in tanker size, remodeling of harbors as result, water depth requirements and impact of these on potential market of crude transportation, especially in Europe are discussed.
