Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessel, first of type, was built by Henry Robb Ltd; hull has fore-castle, raked stem and transom stern, and two continuous decks with addition of continuous superstructure deck; length oa 424 ft 3 in., breadth molded 58 ft, depth molded 35 ft 4 in., draft 22 ft 3/4 in., displacement about 8000 tons, dw 3640 tons; four Wessex and two Wasp helicopters can be accommodated; 5-cyl Sulzer engine built by Wallsend Slipway develops 5500 bhp at 135 rpm; plan.
