Originally converted Navy YO in successful commercial tanker operation, M/T Urania underwent more extensive alterations at Bethlehem's yard, Staten Island; vessel lengthened to increase cargo capacity; length of vessel increased from 174 to 208 ft and capacity from 6860 bbl to 9760 bbl; other improvements made; powered by Union Model V-6 engine developing 560 ihp at 325 rpm.
