Scheme involves 75 mi of route and track mileage of 330, new single line tunnel 330 yd long at Thurgoland, and new double line tunnel under Pennines between Woodhead and Dunford Bridge constructed; 1500-v overhead collecting equipment being installed by British Insulated Callender's Cables, Ltd; motive power provided by 85 mixed traffic locomotives.
